almond blossom festival
Spring is heralded by the almond trees of Agrigento; hundreds of tiny light pink petals adorn the branches and are blown by the wind to fall softly on the frosty grass. This year Agrigento celebrates the flowering of the almond trees for the 63rd year, with performances by folk groups, torchlight processions and the tasting of traditional products. The flowering branches stand out against the ancient tuffs of the Valley of the Temples, while the torch of friendship is lit in front of the immense Concordia Temple in a gentle, augural and fragrant atmosphere.
