In Marsala Easter Day celebrations are brought forward by a day. On Holy Thursday, in fact, a very special procession departs from the Sant’Anna church where the faithful impersonate those biblical characters that lived through the Passion of Christ, with real scenes from the Way of the Cross. A tradition that partially recalls the English mystery plays. The confrontation with the Apostles, the meeting with Pilate, the flagellation, the Road to Calvary and the crucifixion scenes are the most distressing and those most felt by the faithful.
