the rocky settlement of torre pinta
Discovered during some excavations in 1976, the hypogeum of the Torre Pinta opens onto the Valle delle Memorie near the river Idro. These are the ruins of a rocky structure which is believed to have been very wide and used by the early Christians as a place of worship.
A long corridor with carved recesses hollowed out of the rock leads to the tower’s circular hypogeum, on whose vault was later built a dovecote. Torre Pinta is certainly an interesting destination for those who love history and urban speleology.
