Between past and future
All of the main characters of our history have been in Messina, from Greek to Carthaginians, from Romans to Normans, from Garibaldi to the Alleys of the Second World War. Nowadays, Messina is fully dedicated to important commercial and touristic activities. However it still keeps aspects of the past with its renowned monuments, churches and buildings and also masterpieces signed by artists such as Antonello da Messina and Caravaggio. Particularly suggestive is the famous “Stretto”, the narrow passage between Sicily and the rest of Italy.
