The Garden of Earthly Delights

On the 500th anniversary of the death of Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516), the tower of Charles V in Porto Empedocle houses the exhibition “Hieronymus,The Garden of Earthly Delights”. Thirty works realized by artists from the South, from Lazio to Sicily, to which it should be also added a shot of the Argentine photographer Angelo Pitrone and a virtual video of Giuseppe Cuttitta.
The exhibition has been conceived as a tribute to The Garden of Earthly Delights Triptych, the Bosch’s most famous work, nowadays hosted in the Prado Museum of Madrid, which outlines the image of anti-human world, in which the social cosmos seems to crumble due to the effect of selfishness, of violence, of the war and the worst anti-social impulses.
The theme of the exhibition is grotesque with its dual character, which consists into blink the imaginary, through the association of different images, and at the same time to place stress on the detail, on the body and on the expressiveness.
Among the artists there are: Giuseppe Agozzino, Mario Amari, Stefania Amari, Antonella Ludovica Barba, Calogero Barba, Olga Brucculeri, Krizia Burgio, Giovanni Butera.
