ARCH OF THE ELEPHANT
It is called the island of earth by its inhabitants for whom it is not simply an enchanting tourist resort but is also known for its different characteristic aspects. We have already mentioned the renown production of its sweet dessert wine, the passito, as well as Lake Venere and the island’s delicious capers. But another symbol of the island is the Arco dell'Elefante, which is a sort of stack that curves over the sea etching the outline of the head of an elephant dipping its trunk into the water as if it were drinking. It comes just after Cala Levante and, now that the winter colours do not make the blue sea of Pantelleria sparkle, it seems to tell the story of an ancient land.
