San Peter Celebration
Fishing Festival and the Saint Celebration 28th-29th of June
The fishing represents the main activity and source of income for the inhabitants of the island of Panarea reason why they are devote to the saint, a fisherman. The festival takes place on the 28th and 29th of June and involves numerous events: folkloristic groups, dances, traditional products, and amazing fireworks by the sea. At the end of the celebrations, the statue of the Saint is carried by the Christians along the main streets of the island; the procession is accompanied by the musical band and moments of prayers. Really emotional is the part in which the statue is put on a boat and continues the procession by the sea.
